Ramen in a pinch
Preparing instant Ramen Noodles with what’s available
While staying in a hotel in historic downtown Baltimore, I happened across a liqueur store that sold among the obvious Ramen Noodles! There were a few different brands to chose from, but they had my favorite, “Gourmet Spicy” Nongshim Shin Ramen. As an added bonus, & much to my delight, also sold at this wonder store was chop sticks. The man at the counter even offered them to me for free if I could prove that I actually know how to use them.

Back to the hotel room, I’m armed with Ramen Noodles, chop sticks, & an appetite. Really I have nothing to cook with, so I’m looking around the room with some hope & imagination. Never a good combination.
After a quick hunt for some required items, around the hotel room I quickly though of using the coffee maker to bring the water to temperature. It’s looking like this might actually work! Using the provided glasses for water, I was able to fill the coffee maker in about three attempts. Now what to pour the hot water into? From my trip there I had an empty venti-coffee container from Star Bucks.

Perfect! Emptying the packet into the cup, my mouth begins to salivate. It took two amounts of what the coffee maker had to offer, & once the cup was full I was able to cover it with a take-out menu to keep the heat in. After checking my email the Ramen Noodles had enough time to thoroughly cook, absorb the flavor, & was ready for human consumption!
Hopefully you can walk away with a bit of this for preparation, or in desperation, & can enjoy some Ramen Noodles while traveling, if you find yourself in a pinch!
